THE NEXT EVOLUTION OF THE SUNSEEKER PREDATOR ARRIVES
Sunseeker launches the concept details of an all-new Predator 55. The 55-foot performance model joins Sunseeker’s iconic Predator range. Equipped with Twin Volvo Penta IPS-950 engines, the Predator 55 reaches speeds of up to 35 knots.
Andrea Frabetti, Chief Executive Officer at Sunseeker International, commented: “The Sunseeker Predator 55 is the next step in our New Product Development plan that seeks to produce at least three new boats in this size category, each with its own differentiating features designed to appeal to our discerning clients. A completely new silhouette for the Predator has arrived in this new 55-foot model. An aggressive profile shines with new styling cues never-before-seen in the range. Importantly, her driving dynamics remain true to the model’s heritage – she is born to perform”.
Leading the way with a new curved silhouette, the Predator 55 is a stunning new motor yacht in the Sunseeker range. The exterior has a sloping hardtop design, creating a low profile that stands out as a new aesthetic feature.
The characteristic that makes the Predator 55 stand out from other yachts is the retractable glass and carbon fibre sunroof integrated into the hardtop. Operated via the helm console, the 2.5m x 3m sunroof electrically slides aft revealing the sky above. Combined with expansive glazing in all directions and a single piece double-curved windshield, the Predator 55 exudes a stylish new exterior presence while natural light fills the interior space, connecting seamlessly to the cockpit.
Innovation abounds within the aft cockpit where portside seating can be repositioned to meet the fixed seating and table amidships, with ample space for six, complete with an electrical sun canopy option above. This adaptable seating design enables occupants to sit comfortably whilst dining yet effortlessly clears the deck space when retracted to port. The large sun pad over the garage features adjustable headrest bolsters, built-in drinks holders and a view aft that guests will never tire of.
Style and functionality work cohesively to define a yacht built for enjoyment in the minutest of details. The angular aft fairleads form part of a stylish new rear design language, integrated seamlessly into the hull with scalloped stainless steel engine vents sitting vertically outboard. With the addition of low-level LED deck lighting and a new fixed signature transom traverse, connecting port to starboard even with the bathing platform lowered, the aft profile is exquisitely proportioned without compromising functionality. Dual transom steps lead up to the cockpit and broad side decks, en-route to the foredeck complete with a sliding sun pad and ample stowage. It will prove a popular place to congregate; providing the ultimate space for all-day sunbathing whilst a gyro option will mitigate any rolling at anchor. Cleverly, a beautifully flush foredeck now features hidden anchoring hardware, a first in this size category.
A single-level main deck comprises a generous saloon, complete with a large sofa on portside, an L-shaped galley with an integrated hob and refrigeration options TV on a pivoting bracket on starboard side. The galley side units connect with the linear cockpit wet bar so that with the patio door opened to port, there is an uninterrupted connection between inside and outside. Sight lines courtesy of the expansive glazing remain uninterrupted, connecting all on board with the horizon. Twin bolstered seats complement Sunseeker’s exciting new-generation helm station.
In a standard arrangement, the lower deck makes full use of the available space, with two cabins, lower saloon to starboard and a storage room or optional utility room.
The luxurious master cabin is full-beam amidships, offering generous private quarters that are now synonymous with Sunseeker. Upon entry to the lobby is a full-height wardrobe to starboard and an extensive en suite to port. The large double bed sits centrally with sofa seating and a sideboard whilst a dedicated vanity unit and TV are positioned centrally.
An equally spacious forward double cabin benefits from an en suite and plenty of storage. With an emphasis on interior volume for long-distance cruising, both cabins benefit from increased headroom, elevating the feel of spaciousness.
The interior layout can be modified to suit an owner’s exact requirements. The main deck galley can be moved to the lower deck and replaced with a sofa and rise-and-fall TV. With this option, the lower galley replaces the lower saloon and storage or utility room. This space can also be specified as an optional twin cabin with en suite providing accommodation for up to six guests in comfort.
THE SUNSEEKER PREDATOR THROUGHOUT HISTORY
The Predator has a long and successful history within the Sunseeker brand. Pioneered by the first open-cockpit sports cruiser in 1994, the Predator 63 offered something new in its era. Also available in a hardtop version, this radical model was light-years ahead of its time, offering standard features found only in highly customised and intricate builds. The Predator 80 was first launched in 1996, setting a benchmark in leisure boating. With a perfect balance of performance, range and handling with a sumptuous interior accommodation, the Predator 80 was destined for success. Following the popularity of this 80-foot high-performance model, the range expanded to include the Predator 58 in the same year, followed by the Predator 54 in 1997. Both yachts offered unparalleled performance and sumptuous interior accommodation. The development of the Predator 68 in 2001 was made possible by fusing modern materials and technology with Sunseeker’s legendary design expertise.
The turn of the century saw Sunseeker accelerate the development of the Predator range. Between 2001 and 2023, Sunseeker has launched a further 29 brand new Predators and variations of the model, each evolving to suit the next generation of forward-thinkers. The DNA and heritage behind the new Predator 55 remains steadfast within the dynamic hull design, iconic profile and heralded performance, but with subtle modifications to make this Predator the best version of itself.
