At Sunseeker, sustainability is a continuous journey of self-improvement, research, and testing to reduce our impact and protect the oceans we love. “Action Today for a Better Tomorrow” is more than a promise it’s the standard that drives our choices and shapes our future. Here are a few of the many projects we're proud to be implementing today.
BIOMASS BOILERS
The implementation of biomass boilers for renewable heat generation in our manufacturing processes at two of our production sites. The biomass boilers utilise wood offcuts from our manufacturing processes to provide a source of renewable heat, resulting in potential savings of 1,200 tonnes of carbon each year, thereby minimising the environmental impacts of our yacht production.
HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (HVO) FUEL
In collaboration with our engine suppliers, we have approved the use of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) in all our engines. HVO, is a sustainable fuel source with a significantly lower carbon footprint than diesel, reducing CO2 emissions by a minimum of 85%. All our engine manufacturers have approved the use of HVO without having any impact on warranty, performance or fuel consumption. This sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuels exemplifies our dedication to exploring and embracing eco-friendly solutions without compromising on performance or luxury.
RECYCLED PET CORE
In 2024, Sunseeker introduced a PET foam core made with up to 45% recycled plastic, reducing environmental impact while maintaining structural strength and supporting sustainability goals.
THE SUNSEEKER BOATBUILDER PROGRAMME
The Sunseeker Skills Academy, developed in partnership with Bournemouth and Poole College, offers individuals the opportunity to undertake a 12-week intensive boat-building course. Successful applicants will learn trade skills across five boat building specialisms, comprising carpentry, plumbing, composite bonding, engineering and electrical installations. Following an intensive training programme, students will join colleagues to further develop competencies and achieve a nationally recognised qualification over twelve months.
