SUNSEEKER INTERNATIONAL SMASHES FUNDRAISING TARGET FOR BLUE SOUTH COAST CHALLENGE
A team of four Sunseeker International employees took part in the Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) South Coast Challenge 2021 from 9 – 11 July, conquering 210 miles and raising over £2,000 for the charity.
BLUE is a UK-based charity dedicated to restoring the world’s oceans to health by establishing marine protected areas and tackling overfishing. Its aim is to see at least 30 per cent of oceans under effective protection by 2030. Sunseeker’s sponsorship of this event follows a partnership project devised by BLUE and Sunseeker called Project Menorca which was established to help create a tangible difference in protecting the marine environment in Menorca.
Jared Hall, Jamie Morgan, John Bytheway and Timothy Robinson from Sunseeker’s Poole and Portland teams all successfully completed the challenge which started in Hampshire and concluded in Devon. Stopping at various BLUE projects along the way such as the Solent Oyster Restoration Project, the Lyme Bay Fisheries and Conservation Reserve, before finishing overlooking the first National Marine Park declared in the UK, Plymouth Sound.
Andrea Frabetti, CEO at Sunseeker International, said: "We want to say a big well done to the team that stepped forward to take part in this challenge and we are delighted to have not only reached but exceeded the fundraising target in support of the future of ocean conservation.”
Sara-Jane Skinner, Head of Partnerships, at BLUE, added: “It is always great to receive support from Sunseeker International, this time with a cycling event local to them, the inaugural South Coast Challenge. The Sunseeker Team were a great addition to the ride and we are incredibly thankful for their fundraising efforts that will go directly to support BLUE’s projects along the south coast.”
