S172 Statement


Stakeholder engagement and statement under s172(1) of the Companies Act 2006

The Board of Directors, in line with their duties under s172 of the Companies Act 2006, recognises that the long-term sustainable success of Sunseeker International Limited (the "Company") is dependent on the way it interacts with a large number of stakeholders.

The Directors recognise that by operating responsibly the Company is, in turn, helping to support its employees, customers and suppliers, including many small businesses within the local community. In particular, the following is considered important to maintain this position:

  • Everyone understands their role and listens, supports and challenges constructively
  • The Company is constantly innovating, especially in the areas of new model development and production practices
  • Decisions made are for the long-term, with particular consideration for any impact on the Company’s stakeholders

The Company engages with its stakeholders in a variety of ways, including:

Shareholders

  • Following the change of control, financial results are shared on a monthly basis and cash flow forecasts are reviewed weekly. The Board of Directors receives updates on budgets and forecasts as required.
  • Until 1st November 2024 the Company was majority-owned and controlled by The Dalian Wanda Group who maintained an open channel of communication through appointed representatives. Results were shared on at least a quarterly basis, along with regular updates on performance against the budget and any updated forecasts.

Customers

  • Every effort is made to work together with distributors to develop an innovative product range to drive customer interest and demand.
  • The option is provided of customer site visits coordinated by the technical sales team, and to visit the Sunseeker Showcase in Poole, where the latest boat models are displayed.

Employees

  • The Company employs over 2,000 direct staff across the Dorset area. The Company and Group’s People strategy is focused on the best way to support its people, establishing and developing practices that help to retain the workforce.
  • Health and safety, encompassing both physical and mental well-being, is of primary importance to the Company with dedicated health and safety representatives across all production sites supported by mental health first aiders.
  • In order to build and develop the workforce, the Company maintains apprenticeship schemes, leadership programmes and funds membership of applicable professional institutions.
  • As mentioned in the business review section of the Directors’ Strategic Report for the financial period ended 31 December 2023, the Sunseeker group of companies operate a training initiative to address a national skills shortage affecting the marine industry. The Sunseeker Skills Academy, developed in partnership with Bournemouth and Poole College, is open to those seeking a career change, offering potential new employees the opportunity to undertake a fully paid, 12-week intensive boat building course.
  • The Company operates an intranet and a Business Communication Forum to keep all employees fully informed of any events that might have an impact on them and to ensure employee questions and concerns are addressed.

Suppliers

  • The Company is committed to collaborating with our suppliers to promote innovation, ethical trading, sustainability, health & safety and the protection of human rights. The Company’s modern slavery statement can be found here.
  • Regular visits to suppliers are made to ensure both quality of supply and to make sure that standards are achieved across our supply chain.

Community

  • The Company supports employees that give time and money to local charities and good causes. Since 2016 Sunseeker has designated Macmillan Cancer Support in Dorset as a charity partner, including sponsorship of the annual Macmillan Dorset bike ride.
  • In 2023 the Group through its Sunseeker Skills Academy started supporting a five year locally led programme launched by The Royal Foundation called Homewards Charity aimed at working collaboratively across the whole of society to end homelessness.
