This month marks the first anniversary of the Sunseeker Skills Academy at Bournemouth and Poole College.

The Sunseeker Skills Academy is a pioneering training scheme that introduces employees to boatbuilding, with front-loaded delivery by the college and Sunseeker experts, delivered in a bespoke learning environment, also utilising specialised equipment across the college. During this time, the apprentices are immersed in Sunseeker's working culture, which means they are well-prepared for work in the shipyards. It has become a beacon of collaboration between us as a pivotal employer in Dorset and a college contributing to skills delivery in the local area.

This new programme has provided over 100 newly trained employees, helping to increase shipyard productivity and efficiency. It joins the long-established advanced Sunseeker apprenticeship scheme and a new Leadership Academy, with hundreds more employees receiving additional learning and development.

Sunseeker Chief Executive Officer Andrea Frabetti joined the new apprentices at Bournemouth and Poole College a few weeks into their programme. Their confidence and skills at this early stage are a huge testament to their ability, the lecturers and staff training them, and the unwavering commitment to skill, precision, and passion that are hallmarks of the Sunseeker brand.
